Credited as the oldest fashion house in the world, Lanvin has a history that sprawls decades since its inception as a millinery in Paris. Jeanne Lanvin established her business as a means to an end and graduated from hat design through to a children's clothing line (born out of a distaste for the children's wear that was available for her daughter Marguerite at the time) and ultimately to a company comprising of men's, women's and children's fashions as well as home decor.

Multi-layered cuts, color and softly flowing fabrics were her signature. A facet so keenly observed by creative director Alber Elbaz at the Lanvin SS '12 collection in Paris.

| Original Logo |
The former Yves Saint Laurent pret-a-porter designer has guided Lanvin through a revival that has reignited interest in the French label since his appointment in 2001. The most noted alteration made by Elbaz was to revert to the original iconic mother and daughter logo, 'Our logo.. is not a lion, and it's not a horse. It's a mother and daughter. I find the logo very emotional.'
The SS '12 collection was airy and dreamy. The tulle dresses draped on the models as if caught on them by a gust of wind. It was overtly romantic with the tough accessories, such as the eagle belt, providing an alternative edge to the breathtaking collection.
