Balenciaga


Nicolas Ghesquiere has proven again & again that he's fashion's most forward thinking designer and Fall's re-working of ideas from past seasons made for quite an original, and finally wearable proposition.

Jil Sander


Raf Simon's Jil Sander woman has always been the cool, collected & confident type, but Fall's harmonious blend of couture shapes and techno retro ski-inspired separates had a high dose of subtle sophistication that could work on just about anyone.

Chloe


Hannah MacGibbon once again proved her mastery at the girlish Parisian codes Chloe is known for with a pitch-perfect outing jam packed with must-have leather trousers, maxi dresses and new takes on daily essentials with a fresh attitude.

Miu Miu


Easy pretty isn't something one may normally associate with any Miuccia Prada effort, yet her latest take on the 40's was charmingly seductive with its fuss-free ease and novel elegance.

Missoni


Missoni's Fall range was a riot of decadent fabrications, treatments, prints, textures and shapes made mesmerizing by an assured hand at the stimulating powers of unadulterated color.

Best of Paris Fall 2011

Paris is & has always been the highlight of every season and Fall 2011 was full of tremendous fashion. The kind of fashion that makes us take note at what we not only want for ourselves but what we should be filling the shop with as well. Here's a look at the city's most exceptional outings...

Chloe


Chloe's Hannah MacGibbon has clearly got a new found thing for snakeskin this season and her plays with leather & various skins mixed with the house's signature forever-cool Parisian girl nonchalance made for a slick parade of beautifully crafted pieces that looked simultaneously precious, energetic, and somehow quirky while all generously easy on the wear.



Miu Miu

Every season needs a touch of retro flair and while Miuccia Prada has channeled the 40's many times over, her reworking of the era for Fall 2011 came with a restrained sophistication that felt achingly hip. A strong shoulder line, abbreviated proportions, graphic collars and an obi-like pouf panel at the waist made a case for straight forward, confident glamour.



Balenciaga


All of the elements Nicolas Ghesquiere has been toying with over the past few seasons rigorously came together to create one of Balenciaga's most wearable collections in ages, and one of it's best. Adding a new midi-length to the line-up along with a vibrant classical floral wallpaper print worked to freshen up his articulated techno-chic propositions.



Rick Owens


Last season we saw Rick Owens elevate his distinctive tribal urbanite to an intoxicating sci-fi goth-couture hybrid and Fall's layered styling of signature cashmere knits managed to elicit the kind of elusive heady glamour not often associated with his brand of modernity.



Carven


In just a few seasons Carven has quite possibly become one of our favorite contemporary brands due in major part to the simple fact that everything about whats for grabs is flawlessly appropriate, impeccably styled and uniquely on trend. And that in itself is quite a feat considering the abundant market we now think it dominates(sartorially, that is). Every single look was right-on, just like our other favorites from Paris.

Other stand outs full of enough must-have product to literally break your bank many times over included Alexander McQueen, Celine, Lanvin, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Limi Feu, Undercover, Valentino, Veronique Leroy & YSL.

Best Fashion Short: 'Love, Chloe'

Sad that we missed this short film for Chloe's new fragrance 'Love' amidst the infamous YSL belt gossip. Director Roman Coppola, star Raquel Zimmerman and the Chloe team managed to create one of the prettiest short fashion films we have seen yet. In other words, a perfect ode to the world of Chloe.

Remember Resort? The Best of Resort 2011

It's about 25 degrees in Nyc today and Pre-Fall presentations are happening on the daily, but of course, we have to remind you that Resort 2011 has just hit the shops. Here's a look back at our favorites, destined to inspire future buys.

Celine- above & below.



Praise for what Phoebe Philo has done at Celine may running rampant, but judging by her Resort collection, it's more than well deserved. To put it short, we want every single look from the range, every single piece. Whatever it is, Philo understands how to offer iconic, understated goods with a subtle impact that are overwhelmingly desirable. Highlights here included the demure Liberty floral pajama suit, a tiered leather dress, chiffon and Mexican blanket capes and her now signature fluid wide-leg trouser. For us, Celine has become the one irresistible collection that we can't help but feel elated about.

Chloe-
Hannah MacGibbon's camel infected collections at Chloe have been making our Best of lists for several of the past few season's with her understated take on 70's cool. And once again, Resort was packed with the kind of must-haves uber-chic girls from Montana to Moscow can wear. Last fall we were mad for her leather sweatsuit and Resort's abbreviated a-line leather skirt & tunic were a thrilling follow up. MacGibbon clearly understands the Chloe girl, and has yet to disappoint.

Channeling the 40's at Prada with chic separates & unexpected colorways and Yves Saint Laurent & Sonia Rykiel's giddy 70's era take on the 40's at Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada delivered two hit presentations that are sure to dazzle the vacation set & the real world. Full on styling with piles of colorful bangles, oversize earrings, fur stoles, cheerful prints and hosiery offer a lot to play with in opposition to today's minimal times.

Richard Nicoll-


At Cerruti & his own namesake label, Richard Nicoll continues to offer some of the best options for the die-hard minimalist's out there who like clean lines with a dash of humour. The fun came via patent bustiers and detailing and genius abstracted screen prints while Nicoll's hand at the calm & the cool was evident in alluring maxi skirts and smart options for the office.

Valentino-


Valentino has been on a steady roll and the house's coy look at the 60's for Resort was grounded with crisp silhouettes, supple leather detailing and altered photo prints that reminded one not only of the house's 60's Jackie O. heyday, but of Resort's own destination minded past. While Resort's importance in the cycle of fashion is rapidly expanding, this collection offered hyper-chic options for the ladies who cruise and young girls alike. The two designers at the helm, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, clearly understand progressive glamour and we're big fans.

Acne-


Over the years, Acne has somehow been able to score it's own niche in the world of attainable luxury that's perennially cool, identifiably studied and right on the money for girls trying to perfect a now popular louche sexiness. Although the posing and slick styling of the presentation gave the range an intense air of drama, each look had a not-so-basic yet real-world friendliness to it. The fitted wide-leg suits with angular jackets, layered dresses and plays on proportion, all with a clean, minimal ease, make Acne all the more desirable.
