Taste the Rainbow in wannabe Chris Kane

It's not like we're trying to out-do one another, but one of our favorite things about the insane pace of fashion is being able to spot oncoming trends from miles away as a result of the studying the collections as they come out. Take, for example, the most recent resort collections. Originally conceived as a year round fashion "season" for those lucky few who might need a lovely nautical ensemble in the dead of winter -- to take with them on holiday.

These days, instead of cursing the idle rich, we do them one better: we'll cop those styles as soon as they debut and make use of the last few months of warm weather by sporting looks that won't be touted as "trends" until next year. That's the great thing about shopping vintage: while the rest of 'em wait around for Christopher Kane's resort collection to hit the stores, we jump the gun and approximate his tongue-in-cheek rainbow themed designs with this absolutely spot on dress from our collection. The best thing is, it's available now, so you can be the very first in the hood to be seen rocking what's sure to be a huge trend next spring/summer. We've done the legwork, and you can take the credit.

Wear it alone or under a black blazer for some good contrast. We're also loving the button up collar on this piece -- it's another design detail we're predicting is going to be everywhere soon. Get on this before H&M does; just sayin.

Runway Rewind: The Best of Fall 2010

Too many collections in too short an amount of time, boy oh boy does fashion move fast! Seeing as we ourselves have already forgotten many of fall's key collections, here's a look at favorites from Fall 2010 that are destined to make an impact on all of our future buys.

Celine
Another blockbuster collection from Phoebe Philo at Celine that was centered around precise, pragmatic sportswear in a very strict, urbane manner. Wherever the fashion winds blow Philo, we will follow.

Marc Jacobs

After quite a few tricky collections Marc Jacobs was back on track with a collection that looked back at his own signatures, and we were happy to see his original quiet, bookish, almost nerdy girl make a comeback.

Christopher Kane

Chris Kane's inventive mix of graphic traditional floral embroideries, black matte leather & lace made a compelling argument against today's cry for straight-forward minimalism. It was anything but sobering but still oh-so-cool.

Jil Sander

In a time when minimalism is on everyone's radar, Raf Simon's used the strict codes of Jil Sander(the queen of minimalism) to full advantage producing a right-on-the-money line of clean, cool and impeccably tailored sportswear.

Channel Christopher Kane Fall 2010 in Vnyc

We've said it before & we'll say it again: Christopher Kane's Fall 2010 outing happens to be one of our favorites, so we just had to mention our own vintage embroidered leather dress & top that smartly channel his inventive take on next seasons must-have fabrication: leather.

Channel Christopher Kane's beautifully perverse take on classic embroideries for Fall 2010 with Vnyc's 80's era embroidered leather taupe tube & black dress. While the tube's color-way happens to be much more subdued(read wearable), both pieces unique juxtaposition of leather and delicate florals combined with a lady-like shape hit all of Kane's notes dead-on.

Best of London Fall 2010

From London come our top four Fall 2010 collections that are destined to inspire Vnyc:

Christopher Kane

Over the past few years Christopher Kane has quickly become one of fashion's top harbingers to keep an eye on and his Fall 2010 collection with it's perverse mix of floral embroideries, black lace, patent leather, and sci-fi melancholy in vaguely early 90's shapes is one of the season's strongest collections to date.

Meadham Kirchoff
Meadham Kirchoff hit a strong romantic note that was full of texture, beautiful fabrications and dead-on mix-&-match prints and patterns that was distinctively their own.

Aquascutum

Aquascutum's long, lean and languid maxi-skirts & coats in a contrasting palette of black and camel hit two of Fall 2010's biggest trends while achieving a fine balance between sportif and knock-em-dead glamorous day wear.

Erdem

Once again Erdem combined sophisticated abstract prints in a myriad of lush jewel tones in signature princess shapes that were anything but precious.

Most Wanted: Drop the Bomb in Chris Kane

We've been big, big fans of London-Town designer Christopher Kane's beautifully realized aesthetic and his ominous sci-fi yet poectiaclly breathtaking Atomic Bomb inspired resort collection really had us amping up our wish lists. This t-shirt released in limited edition is a smart way to channel the collection's strong aesthetic with ease. One of us is aching to get it before it makes it's way around the party circuit and high-street copyists.
