Inspiration: Collage Artist John Stezaker

The spliced collage prints Dries Van Noten has been playing with over the past few season's reminded us of surreal collage artist John Stezaker's mix of vintage postcards, film stills and memorabilia, since both men share a similar emphasis on subdued, vaguely romantic imagery and understand the importance of placement and an unexpected juxtaposition.

Completely Gratuitous: Eno's 'No One Receiving'

These days we can't stop listening to Brian Eno's 1977 single 'No One Receiving' which you can once again blame on Celine's Pheobe Philo, who used the song for her relaxed S/S 2011 show.

Snap it Up: LN-CC's Number (N)ine Archival Sale

The world of mens fashion is always a bit hard for us to get our head's around, not to say that we don't follow or understand it, that we do, what's hard to comprehend is the politics of it all. There's the much lauded genius of Raf Simons vs. the undue hype that designers like Billy Reid with his studied take on banal classics, receive. Which in turn seems to be the problem, there's the good, the exceptionally good and then there's the lot who are dead set at producing what we all know too well. And while we are still recovering from the loss of Takahiro Miyashita's elusive label Number (N)ine(a major force in menswear and thoroughly original), we were excited to hear that London based boutique & online shop LN-CC will be holding an exclusive once-in-a-lifetime sale of archival pieces from seasons past. Hopefully, this time around there aren't any cotton jumpsuits above $10,000, as the company had up for grabs with their Raf Simons archive sale.

Micro-Trend S/S 2011: The Bold Red Blouse

Sharply tailored & unadorned, the simple red top, one of S/S 2011's boldest micro-trends, isn't only for the brave. You can trace it back to Ricardo Tisci's earlier days at Givenchy with his penchant for monochrome suiting in reds & pinks and all the way down to the editors being snapped up by fashion photogs outside of shows in the vivid hue, the color makes sense for right now. And while it suggests a brazen self confidence, a simple red top also adds an essential restrained burst of pop to any look. Here's a look at three favorites from our vintage range.

Inspiration: Lizzy Mercier Descloux

We've always had a thing for No Wave and the era's boisterous cast of asymmetrically dressed characters and as a vintage outlet with an off-kilter sense of self, it's no wonder the musical genre often works as a recurring source of inspiration for us in a myriad of ways. One of the genre's pioneers, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, may have left behind an impressive body of worldbeat influenced music and helped bring the Punk movement to France, but her boyish, rakish charm and love of color-blocking remind us that she will forever be a strong sartorially inspiring figure for us as well.
