Medal of Honor: 70's Karl Lagerfeld

Fall Winter 2011 -- Maltese Crosses; Militaristic Embellishments

Versace Fall Winter 2011 Print Ad

In an extension of the Byzantine Trend that was explored in the Fall of 2010, this season the au courant adornment is the gold maltese cross, or any military inspired brooch, belt buckle, or print motif. The Maltese Cross was introduced into costume jewelry when, notably, Italian jeweler Fulco di Verdura set the Maltese Cross into a cuff for Coco Chanel when he was designing her costume jewelry collection.

Versace worked the gold crests into the hardware that added a glam toughness to the collection, and there is further evidence that this style will be going strong well into Spring, if the looks at Balmain are any indication.

Behind the Scenes shoot for D Magazine

Vagabond NYC delves into their collection, mixing together a study in masculine tailoring, punched up with riotous prints and technicolor brights.

Kristen Arnett, founder of Green Beauty Team, worked her magic on Grace, mixing intense pigments in hues of emerald and magenta.

Grace Bol -- a Sudanese-by-way-of-Kansas City model who is represented by Major -- brought her experience and delightful demeanor to set. Her extraordinary beauty shines through even in these candid photos, and her self possessed confidence in front of the camera infused the pictures with a serene power. Appearing recently in the Thierry Mugler resort show, we believe Grace's trajectory shall continue to rise and wish her all the best!

A very special thanks to photographer Toto Cullen, cinematographer Tebbe Schoningh, hair and make up artist Kristen Arnett, model Grace Bol, and Major agent Eric Granwehr -- the shoot was a perfect storm of energy and creativity, culminating in some amazing photographs.

Courtney Love's Animated Video About her Style

We love Courtney Love, her music, her blog, everything about her, and this crazy-ass video she commissioned Michael Mouris to create portraying her personal style evolution is completely gratuitous yet fun. It includes Karl Lagerfeld, André Leon Talley and makes little to no sense, but from Love, would you expect anything else?

Strictly for Laughs!

Henry Holland, of House of Holland, the genius behind last year's slogan t-shirt craze has brought his clever wit to the forefront again this season with a line of cheeky, and once again designer inspired(for all the die-hard fans of course!) range of t-shirts that are emblazoned with comical interpretations of designer stars in the nude. The line includes fashion icons like Donatella Versace, John Galliano and Holland himself. Of course, this Karl Lagerfeld image had us laughing on the floor! It's Karl like we have never seen or even thought about him.
